Getting started
- Install Mint Wholesale from the Shopify App Store. The app home shows a setup checklist.
- Price tiers: your first tier is ready — name “Wholesale”, customer tag
wholesale, 30% off everything. Change the tag and the discount if you like, and save. - Customers: add customers to the tier on the Customers page (it adds the tier's tag), tag them yourself in Shopify, or let them apply (Pro).
- Turn on wholesale pricing on the app home. This creates one automatic discount in Shopify → Discounts (named “Wholesale price” unless you change it).
- Product pages: click Add product block on the app home; the theme editor opens with the Wholesale price block ready. Click Save. Then click Open theme editor to switch on the Wholesale tools embed.
How wholesale prices work
- A customer gets a tier's prices when they're signed in and their customer record has the tier's tag. Tags aren't case-sensitive.
- If a customer has the tags of several tiers, the tier higher on the Price tiers page wins.
- Each item's discount is calculated per unit from its current price in the customer's currency and rounded to the currency's smallest unit, so the unit price on the product page is exactly what checkout charges, for any quantity. (One exception: Shopify limits how much a discount can return, so a very large cart where more than about 100 lines have different prices is discounted with the same percentages per line, and Shopify's rounding can then differ by a cent on a line.)
- Rules (Pro): a product's own rule wins; otherwise its collections (a collection with “No wholesale price” wins, otherwise the highest rate); otherwise the tier's store-wide discount. Volume breaks give a bigger discount from a number of units of the same product (all variants count) when that's better.
- Collection rules can use up to 4 different collections across all tiers — Shopify limits how much data a discount can read for each cart, and this keeps large wholesale carts working. Use product rules (no such limit) for more.
- Prices don't apply to gift cards, subscriptions or Shopify B2B (company) checkouts. For security the customer must be signed in: typing a wholesale customer's email at checkout doesn't unlock their prices. Draft orders you create in the admin may not get the automatic wholesale price; add a discount to the draft order instead.
- Other discounts: by default wholesale prices combine only with shipping discounts. When a customer also qualifies for another product discount, Shopify applies whichever saves them more on each item. Change this on the Price tiers page.
Minimums (Pro)
- Per tier: an order minimum, a minimum number of units per product, and pack sizes (units per product in multiples of). Per-product overrides are available.
- They're checked at checkout by a Shopify checkout rule the app creates. Customers can still build their cart freely; with the Wholesale tools embed on, the cart page lists what's missing.
- The order minimum compares with the subtotal after wholesale prices (before shipping and taxes), converted to the customer's currency.
Quick order form (Pro)
- Online Store → Pages → Add page, title “Quick order” (handle
quick-order). Save. - Click Add Quick order block on the app home and Save in the theme editor. It only shows on the page with that handle.
- Link the page from your menu. Wholesale customers see their prices, enter quantities and add everything to the cart in one click.
Wholesale applications (Pro)
- Settings → turn on Accept wholesale applications. The form lives at
/apps/wholesale/applyon your store; add it to your menu. - Customers sign in (or create an account) and apply with their business name and, optionally, website, tax ID and a message. They get the tag
wholesale-pending. - Review on the Applications page: Approve adds the tier's tag (and, when email sending is available, can email the customer); Decline adds
wholesale-declined.
Troubleshooting
- A customer doesn't get wholesale prices. Check that pricing is on (app home), that they're signed in, and that their tag matches a tier exactly (Customers page shows their tier).
- The Wholesale price block doesn't show. It's only visible to customers in a tier. In the theme editor it shows a preview. Check that the block is on your product template.
- The discount disappeared. If “Wholesale price” was deleted in Shopify → Discounts, open the app: the home page offers to recreate it.
- Emails aren't sent. Approval and new-application emails are optional; the app home says if sending isn't available. Approving still gives the customer wholesale prices.
